Greetings!
Nothing like beautiful weather to make one smile, non? It is close to perfect out there - abundant sunshine, warm temps, no furnace, no AC, all good. Now what will really make things really perfect - at least to me, obviously - is a wonderful meal, fine wine, good people. We can supply the first two, the later you are on your own, although we do have some pretty fine people right here. We will be featuring this weekend fresh Swordfish from the Pacific, Lemon Sole from the Atlantic, and “grass fed” Kobe Beef Filet from the land in between (hint - there are 50 states). It will be a fantastic weekend to head out, and we’d love to see ya’!
As far as the wine part of the “perfect” weekend, I think we can help you there as well. All our feature wines are very good, obviously, including the Cab from Joel Gott, the excellent Oregon Pinot Noir from Hawks View, the also excellent red Spanish blend, Locations E, and the tasty Sangiovese blend from Ferrari-Carano, Siena. Last week I talked about the wonderful and varied tastes of Pinot Noir, and today I want to suggest you consider another grape varietal, Grenache. Grenache is grown throughout the world, and we offer Grenache based wines from France, Italy, Spain and California. The offerings from California include the wines from Dave Phinney, the winemaker behind “E”, Prisoner and Abstract. Italy offers Cannonau from Sardinia, but it is from France and Spain where I think Grenache achieves its finest expression. The wines from the Southern Rhone, such as Cotes du Rhone, Lirac and especially Chateauneuf-du-Pape, are all excellent, and from Spain we have wines from
Priorat, which is near Barcelona, and especially Atteca. Grenache is a medium to full bodied wine, with excellent fruit and balance, and works very well with our cuisine. I think Grenache is among the most food friendly wines, wherever it comes from, and is available at many price points. I urge you to try it.
We trust you are well and enjoying the weather and season, and whatever you do hope you have a nice weekend (but we would really like you to spend some of if with us!). Thanks for all your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Ciao
