Greetings!
Well, at least the sun is out. I mean, the sun is nice, and even seems warmer than before, but a bit more warmth would be nice. But maybe, just maybe, we can put the snow plows away. And to me - some surprise, I know - this is a fine weekend to mosey over to Fratello’s for some good food & wine, perhaps some spirits or beer, and a good time. We will be featuring Jumbo Fluke Fish from Massachusetts, Mako Shark from Hawaii, and Certified Angus Beef Delmonico Steak from the good old USA. We would love to see ya’!
Some wine news for you. We still have some Barbera d’Asti on our feature board, and Barbera offers fruit and medium body and is perhaps the most food friendly wine from Italy. I have also added a Sangiovese based wine from Antinori from Tuscany, Santa Cristina, which always gets good reviews from the wine press. In the wings await several Grenache based wines from Spain, and I have told you how excellent Grenache is with our menu. I want to remind you of the very good Shiraz wines from Australia from D’Arenberg I have added to our list, The Footbolt, which is very inexpensive, and Dead-Arm, which is more expensive but among the best wines I have tasted recently. Also, a friend reminded me of the wonderful wines from Portugal, and I have brought back a red from Portugal, Po de Poeira, which used to be on our list. This wine is actually the “second” wine from the winery, which is located in the Douro area of the country, which is best known for their Port wines. This is an
excellent wine, full bodied, refined and complex with moderate tannins with a lot of concentration which opens wonderfully. It is no yet on our wine list but will be soon, and is available at $41/bottle. Portugal is perhaps the best kept secret of wines from Europe, and I urge you to try it.
I hope the sun, if not the “warmth”, brings a smile to your face, and that we get the chance to see you soon. Thanks for all your support.
Ciao
