Weekend Specials


Okay, I get it. It’s wet out. Tonight, it is going to be wet out. Ditto for tomorrow morning. But they say we’ve got smooth sailing after that, looking like a dry and nice weekend. Let us be optimistic, which is often a stretch around here (if you know what I mean!), and let’s look forward to decent temps and skies coming our way. Perfect weather to head out for some good food & wine, like, say, at Fratello’s. We will be featuring this weekend Certified Angus Beef Delmonico Steak, Haddock from the North Atlantic and in honor of you know who fresh Wahoo (aka “Ono”) fish from Hawaii. We hope you have a chance to join us, we’d love to see ya”!

On the wine front, we are finishing our run soon with the St. Jean Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast and the Cabernet Sauvignon from Columbia Crest from Washington state, both available by the glass or by the bottle, and both are inexpensive and tasty. We have enough for this weekend in all probability, and fear not for I have vino in the wings awaiting their turn on the board. To the wine list I have added a new but older vintage of an excellent Barbaresco, Ovello, from Cantina del Pino. This vintage is from 2003 and comes from the library of the distributor and I am told is drinking very well. Barbaresco along with Barolo are the major red wines from the Piedmont region of northwest Italy and are noted for their power and elegance. Not inexpensive but very good. We also have a new Brunello di Montalcino from Molino del Piano from the Tuscan region of Italy. This 2009 Brunello is rated 91 points by The Wine Advocate, and differs from the other Brunellos we offer in that it is
a softer and more approachable wine, a more international style that is immediately likable. Also, we can offer it for $48/bottle, which for a Brunello with this rating is amazing. I plan to add new wines in the near future, so stay tuned.
