Weekend Specials

Greetings!

Well, it looks like ol’ winter just won’t quit and shows no sign of letting up soon. But at least the days are longer – colder sure, but longer anyway. But every day brings spring closer, and hopefully warmer weather. Besides, this is kind of a big weekend coming up, and I want to alert you to some tasty specials we will be featuring this weekend. These include Organic Salmon from Canada, Jumbo Sea Scallops from the East Coast and Certified Angus Beef Delmonico Steak. I know that it is Valentine’s Day this Saturday, and you know that we accept reservations on a limited basis for parties of 5 or more, but we will get as many of you that come to see us in this Saturday, or on Friday for those coming to beat the Saturday rush. Either way, we’d love to see ya’!

On our wine board, as I said last week I added the Cabernet blend, although mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, from Michael Pozzan to our features. This is a medium bodied wine with excellent fruit, typical of Cabernet from Napa, yet offers a decent finish, which is often lacking in wines at this price point. It joins the other features, many of which we have offered for some time now because they continue to be well received – the Cabernet from Joel Gott, the Sangiovese blend from Ferrari-Carano, Siena, the Spanish red blend crafted by a winemaker from California, Locations “E”, and the Pinot Noir from Oregon, Point North, which offers at a low price point a taste of what a Pinot from Oregon tastes like. Speaking of, Pinot Noir is a very versatile wine that lends itself well with many foods, and Pinot from Oregon is more similar to a wine from Burgundy, France than a Pinot from California, which typically are more fruit driven. Oregon offers more of a balance between fruit and the
soil in which the grapes are grown, which the French call “terroir”, but not at the total expense of the fruit. We have several wines from Oregon on our list, and I urge you to try them. They are all very good, and as I have said many times, it is good to leave one’s comfort zone and try new wines – there is a lot of amazing juice out there!

Thanks for all your support, especially in these chilly days we are all stuck with. I want to wish all of you, romantics and otherwise, a very Happy Valentine’s Day, and wish you good health, good humor and good times.

Ciao
