Weekend Specials


Well, tonight’s the night. No, I am not thinking about how we at Fratello’s are open for business as usual, offering you fine food and wine this evening (which we are). As you might have heard, tonight is the opening of the Cavs season, which has a few people excited, to say the least. Back to the fine food and wine, we are open this evening, and we will even have the game on the tube. But I was thinking also about tomorrow night, and Saturday as well, when I hope in the glow of a fine victory you’ll consider joining us for dinner. We will be featuring Delmonico Steak, Swordfish and Black Grouper, along with a few other Fratello favorities – you know, veal & shrimp & calamari & chicken & clams & mussels & pasta & eggplant &…..We’d love to see you!

On the wine front, I have moved the white blend from California, Conundrum, to our wine list from the feature board. Conundrum is a blend of several grapes, the exact mixture being a secret known only to the winemaker, but they include chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, semillon, muscat and viognier, and the grapes come from Napa, Monterey, Santa Barbara and Tulare counties. Somewhat of a hodgepodge, but all these grapes provide a multi-layered wine with very good balance, medium bodied and medium dry to dry. I moved Conundrum to the list because I wanted to clear room for a new Italian wine on the feature board. Terra Rossa “Oltre” is a Super Tuscan red from Montalcino, the home of the world famous Brunello, which we also have on our list. Oltre is a blend of the Sangiovese clone that is Brunello and Merlot, providing a wine with smoothness and structure, yet an easy drinking wine with soft, even smooth tannins. I was impressed with this wine when I sampled it, and I suggest you
give it a go. It will work very well with our menu.

P.S. Remember what I told you last week of our plans for New Years’ Eve, as we are now accepting reservations for all size parties for seatings at 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30. Again, call us, do not email. And in another sign of how they seem to jump early on the seasons (at least to me, and doesn’t it seem to get earlier every year?), we plan to tap Great Lakes Christmas Ale this weekend. See, another reason to join us!
