I know it’s winter and all, but enough with the snow already. We had our white Christmas, all good, so now it’s time for the snow to go away, non? And it looks like the thermometer is going single digits on us soon. So what’s someone to do in face of all this wonderful news. Well I say, it’s time for a warm, comforting and excellent meal, along with a nice beverage to complement it. We might just have the ticket for you this weekend. We will be featuring Red Snapper, a little bit of Lemon Sole, and Certified Angus Beef Delmonico Steak. Oh, and I might have some wine available to accompany your meal. We’d love to see you help us start 2014 on the right note.
Speaking of wine, I continue to feature the excellent Malbec from Chakana on our board. This wine is medium to fuller bodied, with excellent fruit and balance and hits just the right notes for a cold, wintry evening. On our list I urge you to consider another bigger red that also works well in the winter, an Amarone from Zeni from the Veneto area of Italy. Amarone is related to Valpolicella but is much more extracted and a much bigger wine, and typically on the expensive side. This Amarone from Zeni, while not inexpensive, is at a much lower price point than the other Amarones on our list, and while perhaps not quite as massive a wine it is excellent and great this time of year. (For me, Amarone is always good, but I digress.) Remember, it is good to venture beyond your comfort zone with wines, and it is fun to try different wines.
Thanks to all of you who joined the festivities on New Year’s Eve, and I hope you all had a Happy and Safe New Year. Thanks for all you support, and here’s hoping 2014 is better for us all! Best regards, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
