Kind of hard to believe that school has started again, non? It just doesn’t seem right, at least to me, but as they say, it is what it is. But it is kind of sad in that it seems to be another sign that summer is fading. However, a fact check indicates that we are in fact only a third of the way through August, with a whole month left of summer to go. And this means there is a whole lot of time available to enjoy some good food and wine this summer, like at Fratello’s, for instance. We will be featuring Wild Alaskan Ivory King Salmon, Golden Tile Fish from the North Atlantic, and Certified Angus Beef Delmonico Steak. Plenty of time to enjoy Fratello’s food, so we hope to see you.

On the wine front, I urge you to try the Sangiovese red blend from Ferrari-Carona, Siena, that we are featuring on our wine board. Medium bodied, decent acidity to work with food, this wine is very good with our menu. With the return of the humid weather I am also enjoying the Sauvignon Blanc from Quivera, a very good Sonoma vineyard I recently became acquainted with. Also, recently I have sung the praises of White Oak Winery from the Alexander Valley region of Sonoma, and I have added their Merlot, which actually comes from Napa fruit, to our list. I am a fan of White Oak, and we also have their Chardonnay, Syrah and even a Cabernet, although not all of these wines have made it to our list yet. Give them a try.
