It kind of looks like summer has gone on vacation for us. Or, perhaps our summer resembles a Colorado type summer, nice but a bit on the cool side (at least when I was there). But it is not all bad – the low energy, good sleeping type of summer. Plus it makes our kitchen a bit more pleasant, mostly. But hot or cold, humid or not, it is always a good time for some good food and wine. This weekend we will be featuring Bacon Wrapped Pork Chops, Wild Stripped Bass, and in honor of Shark Week, Mako Shark. We’d love to see you, so consider joining us.
Some wine news to share with you. I have added a number of wines based on tastings which you will enjoy. Prevail by Ferrari-Carano is a Cabernet/Syrah blend from Sonoma, and offers fuller body and excellent California fruit. We continue to feature the Sangiovese based blend, Siena, also from Ferrari-Carano, which has been very well received. Both wines are very good with our menu. On a Sonoma kick, Quivera from the Dry Creek Valley region of the county is both inexpensive and an excellent summer wine. Just a very pleasant wine. Also new, and also from Sonoma, are a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Gary Farrell. Both of these wines are from the Russian River Valley, and while not inexpensive are actually the more value orientated wines from the vineyard. Gary Farrell has built a well deserved reputation as one of the best vineyards in the Russian River, and both of these wines are very good examples of the quality of the vineyard and their winemaker. Lastly, and away from
Sonoma, We have the new vintage of the Shiraz/Cabernet/Merlot blend from Mollydooker from Australia, Two Left Feet, and I have added two new Chateauneuf-du-Pape wines from the southern Rhone region of France. Chateauneuf-du-Pape is a Grenache based blend and perhaps the finest wine from the southern Rhone. Medium to fuller bodied, these new wines are from a younger generation and thus more approachable. Very good wines.
Thank you for your continued support and friendship. We hope you have enjoyed your summer, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
