I get it. I know it is only August 7th, but it sure seems like the summer is flying by. At least it does to me. But there is plenty of summer left, plenty of sunshine, plenty of good times for all. And plenty of time for good food and wine. Like at Fratello’s, just for instance. We will be featuring Black Grouper, Wild Alaska King Salmon and Beef Funghetto. And items such as Veal Fratello, Eggplant Parm, Calms Casino, Shrimp Fratello, Chicken Rollotini, Calamari, Veal Salt…….you know. We’d love to see ya’!
Last week I extolled the virtues, at least to me, of some wines from Sonoma that strike me. Wines from Ferrari-Carano, for instance, whose Sangiovese based blend called Siena we have been featuring with great success. Medium bodied, this wine works very well with our menu, which after all is said and done is why we have the wines we have. Wine accompanies food very well, and the correct match can enhance both the food and the wine. Another wine I have just brought on board is a Sauvignon Blanc from Quivera Vineyards, also from Sonoma. I was advised to check out Quivera by a good friend and wine buddy, and he did not steer me wrong. This Sauvignon Blanc offers excellent fruit and flavor, and is a very interesting and very good contrast to another Sauvignon Blanc that we have featured for some time, Whitehaven from New Zealand. Both are the same grape but yet very different, which to me is among the most interesting aspects of wine. But, most importantly, both are very good,
which is the whole point. Give them a try and let me know what you think.
We hope you are enjoying your summer, and it has been safe and brought you smiles. Thank you for all your support. We look forward to seeing you soon.
P.S. A personal note, if you will, I want to give a loud shout to a very good friend and soul who has left us too soon. Ciao Joe, all the best on your journey, we will miss you.
