Well, are you ready? It is almost here, starting this very weekend in fact. I am talking about SUMMER, which although it feels like it’s been here awhile now – at least as far as the temps go – it technically begins this weekend. So what does one do in Avon Lake, or Avon, or Bay Village, or Westlake, or Rocky River, or North Olmsted, or Brooklyn, or Birmingham, or wherever….to celebrate the start of the summer season, one might ask. And I have a suggestion to take this delicate decision out of your hands (I bet you’re surprised!) – why not join us at Fratello’s Italian Restaurant for some good food and wine. We will be featuring the ever so popular and ever so good for you fresh Copper River Sock-eye Salmon, Atlantic Swordfish and the amazing Rib Eye Cap Steak, aka Spinalis, which if you have not tried is amazing (sorry to be repetitive, but it is amazing!). And also, maybe, some veal and shrimp and pasta and mussels and clams and chicken and calamari
and…………….We’d love to see ya’!
On the wine front, we are nearing end of the Rosso di Montepulciano from Avignonesi, which is a very good wine, on our feature board, but never fear, I have wines in the wings waiting for their debut on the board. Also, the news of the demise of Location E were premature, at least for this week, so fear not. Recently, I attended a very good wine tasting of wines from the southern Rhone area of France, and I am adding a Chateauneuf du Pape from Bosquet des Papes to our wine program. Chateauneuf du Pape is perhaps the premier wine from the southern Rhone, and is a Grenache blended with lesser amounts of other grapes, such as Syrah, Mouvedre, Cinsault and Counoise, but mostly Grenache. Grenache wines are represented on our list with many wines from Dave Phinney from California, such as Abstract, Cannonau from Italy via Sardinia, and many wines from Spain, such as Atteca and Priorat. Grenache is truly an international varietal, and it works very well with food, with our menu.
Medium to fuller bodied, such as with the Chateauneuf, I urge you to try a Grenache based wine. I do not think you will be disappointed, and they are available at all price points. Just a thought.
