Weekend Specials


Okay, I think we can cool it with rain already. Some week, non? Hopefully the rain holds off enough to dry off, grab the umbrella for the next deluge, and perhaps head over to Fratello’s for some good food and wine. We will be featuring this weekend Boneless Beef Short Ribs, Swordfish and Sable Fish, aka Black Cod. Its dry inside – so far – the place is built like a tank, and we have plenty of food and drink to go around. Hope we see ya’!

On the beverage side, I have added a new wine to our feature board that I really like and has received rave reviews. The wine is called Quartage and is made by Shotfire Winery from Australia. It comes from Barossa, and is a Cabernet blend, offering plenty of fruit, medium to full body, soft tannins and a pleasant finish. The response thus far has been very positive, and we have ordered more (which they tell me is “on its way”), but I urge you to try it before we run out. It joins the other features, including the Cab from Joel Gott, Locations E from Spain, and the Sangiovese blend from Italy, Santa Cristina, which is another of my favorites. Another wine that should make it to our list this weekend is a Bordeaux from France, Chateau Hourtin-Ducasse. This estate borders the Pauillac area of Bordeaux, and is classified as a Cru Bourgeois. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and offers a full and complex mouth, well placed tannins,
power and structure. The fruit is there but much more muted than a comparable wine from California, and provides a good example of what Bordeaux is all about. I urge you to try it.
