This sure has been a crazy winter. It’s like whenever the sun comes out you better hurry out before the next blizzard. Like this week, for instance. Well, before the next “blizzard”, I’m hoping you’ll consider joining us at Fratello’s for some good food, wine and company (which you hopefully will supply). We will be featuring Beef Funghetto, Hawaiian “Uku” Grade Snapper, Black Grouper and the ever so popular Jumbo Sea Scallops. Come on out, we’d love to see ya’!
This month’s Wine Spectator has a story on the winemaker Dave Phinney, whose wines readers of my emails will recall we offer at Fratello’s. The new vintage of the excellent Cabernet blend Palermo was just released, and this is an excellent wine. Full bodied with excellent fruit, it is the kind of wine that will be fantastic with our featured Beef Funghetto. We also have Abstract and Papillon from Dave Phinney on our list, and The Prisoner and Saldo, a Zinfandel blend and a Zin which were created by Dave and sold to another vineyard. We also continue to feature the Locations “E” on or wine board, which is a Spanish blend also crafted by Dave Phinney. All his wines are characterized by forward fruit, most are blends, and all are very good. One other wine you should consider is Fittings, which is a Grenache from the Roussillon region of southwestern France. Fittings is made from a vineyard next to a vineyard owned by Dave Phinney, and is made in his fruit forward style,
especially for a wine from France. I had a bottle with dinner this week, and it is a very good food wine which should work well with our menu. Just a thought.
Thanks as always for your continued support. We hope to see you soon, and wish you a very safe and Happy Saint Patrick’s Day, which by the way we will be open. Why not go Italian on Saint Paddy’s – we do have Guiness and Irish on hand!
