Wouldn’t you know, it takes until September to get the hottest day of the year, so far. Plus, what’s up with the “cooling front” that was supposed to come in? Still pretty humid out, non? And with our beloved Browns off to their usual “fast” start (just kidding, but you had to know that!) and with the Tribe doing their part recently to just miss out on the playoffs (maybe, but I still have hope), not a lot of room for optimism. But the football season just started, and the Browns are tied for first in the division, and there are still 17 or so games, so there’s still time for the Tribe to make it. So I say, have some optimism, smile because it could always be worse, and treat yourselves to a nice dinner this weekend. Should you consider us at Fratello’s – here’s the plug – we will be featuring Nunavut Arctic Char, Fresh Lemon Sole and Pork Osso Bucco, which is very, very good (just saying). By the way, Nunavut refers to an indigenous tribe from Alaska, not some martial arts,
and Char is similar to salmon, with all the health benefits. We hope to see you, we’ll be there!
As for wine, I have added a new wine from Italy to our feature board, a Dolcetto D’Alba from Gagliasso. Dolcetto is the grape and the wine hails from the Piedmont section of Italy. Dolcetto has been compared to Beaujolais from France, but this Dolcetto is a much bigger wine, with more tannins and body. It is a good addition to our feature board, joining the Cab from Joel Gott and the Garnacha de Fuego from Spain. We should receive by this weekend a new shipment of the Expressions 44 Pinot Noir from Oregon to join the list, but heads up to those of you who have enjoyed this wine that shortly it will not be available at the price point it is currently at. I will keep you posted, and I am trying to stock up on supply. Lastly, we received a new vintage of the excellent Grenache blend from Dave Phinney, Abstract, which has received very good ratings as it has in the past vintages. As I have said before, I urge you to consider all of his wines that we carry, including The Prisoner,
Saldo, Papillon and Palermo. They are all very good.
We hope you are well and enjoyed a safe and nice summer, and we thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you soon, maybe this weekend.
