Sometimes doesn’t it seem that in spite of all the problems in this crazy world, at least in a moment, things are going pretty good? Take a look outside – if this is not an almost perfect day, tell me. Warm, beautiful blue sky, barely a cloud floating by – if only we could bottle it for the future. Who would have bet last spring that the Tribe would be in the playoff hunt with 4 games left to play, and to be in the drivers seat at that? Who gave the Browns much chance last week against the Vikings, yet they won. And with a local product at the helm, how cool is that! And for us here at Fratello’s, we are closing in on our 21st year, and with many of the same people that helped us all those years ago. We consider ourselves very fortunate, as we hope you do, and hope that you will consider toasting and celebrating this good fortune with a tasty meal at Fratello’s this weekend. We will be featuring Scottish Faroe Island Salmon (which is a beautiful country by the way), Mako
Shark and Lamb Chops from the fine state of Colorado. Hey, we’ll be here, and we hope you’ll join us.
On the wine front, I have added a very food friendly wine from Italy to our feature board, a Barbera D’Alba from Castello Di Neive. Barbera typically comes from the towns of Asti or Alba from Piedmont, and is perhaps the most food friendly wine from Italy. This wine is medium bodied, and works well by itself as well as with your meal. It joins the highly rated Garnacha de Fuego from Spain, the excellent tasting and value Pinot Noir from Expression from Oregon, the very good Joel Gott Cab, which is always dependable, and the Zinfandel blend from California, Shebang. Also, last week I told you about the Chardonnay blend from The Prisoner Wine Company, Blindfold, which is available but not yet on out list. I expect to receive a shipment of another highly allocated (i.e. very limited) wine from the same vineyard which is a Cabernet based blend. Called Cuttings, it is a blend of Cabernet, Petit Sirah, Syrah and Zinfandel, and the winemaker notes suggest that it is a powerful and
structured wine. It has a good pedigree, coming from the same people who make The Prisoner and Saldo, meaning they come from the Dave Phinney school of wine making. It is not inexpensive, but as I said, we are all very fortunate, so if you feel like celebrating…….Whatever, there is still Oktoberfest and Dortmunder and Famous Grouse and Three Olive and Jack and GM and……
We hope you are well and enjoying this beautiful day. Thanks for all your support, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
