Well, I guess we can say fall has arrived. Whatever happened to the beautiful blue sky this morning? It comes with the territory, I suppose, living up here on the North shore of Lake Erie. But it is not all bleak up here, no sirree(?)! We do have some great neighborhoods, interesting shops, outstanding cultural amenities, three major sport franchises (okay, they haven’t done so well lately, but at least we have ’em), one of the aforementioned Great Lakes, some very good restaurants…………Speaking of, how about considering joining us at Fratello’s this very weekend for some tasty food and wine? We will be featuring a Filet Mignon Surf-n-Turf special, Fluke Fish and Jumbo Sea Scallops. Remember, thanks to our friends at American Greetings we have reasons to celebrate this very weekend, this very Saturday…yes, I am speaking of the locally famous Sweetest Day! We’d love to see you.
Transition does not only happen to the seasons and the weather, it also happens in the food and wine business. I’ll touch on a food transition soon, but the wine world transitions to the fall and upcoming holidays this time of year, which will open up some new wines for our list and feature board. The Oregon Pinot Noir from Expressions 44 continues to be a hit on the board, but…heads up…its availability long term is doubtful. We still have a good supply on hand, but when it’s gone, it’ll be time to move on. Some wines from both Italy and Spain are waiting on the bench for playing time, so to speak, and I am told that supply of the Spanish red blend, “E” should be okay. As for the list, I have added a red Cabernet blend called Cuttings from the Prisoner Wine Company, the new makers/distributors of the excellent red blend, Prisoner. Cuttings is not inexpensive, but a wine with both body and structure, with ample fruit primarily from Napa, with a small amount of Sonoma
thrown in. This is another allocated wine, so our supply is limited. Not inexpensive, but very good. As I have said before, I am confident that we have a wine for you to enjoy.
We may have lost the good weather for awhile – hopefully not for long – but we are still here for you. We are grateful for your continued support, which has allowed us to be here for nearly 21 years now. Thank you all, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
