Pretty nice fall out there, non? Is it just me or do the colors seem especially bright out there? Heck, sometimes by this time we have had the white stuff already. I know, I know, some of you may have had to shovel, but we’re on the West side, if you know what I mean. But it is getting cooler, time for warming food and wine. Kind of like what we serve at Fratello’s (you had to know that I would get there somehow!). Take this weekend, when we are featuring Opah Fish from Hawaii (where by the way they are probably having a nice fall as well, just saying), the ever so popular Jumbo Sea Scallops, and Pork Tenderloin. Of course there is always the comfort of your “friends” Veal Fratello and Chicken Fratello and Shrimp Fratello and Eggplant Parm and Chicken Parm and Linguini with Clam Sauce and Veal Salt and Chicken Rollo and Calamari and Pasta and…
I told you before that our supply was limited of the excellent Pinot Noir from Expressions from Oregon, and I am sad to report that we are out of stock, although I am told that we will receive more next week. But we still have excellent wines for you to enjoy, including the Cabernet from Joel Gott, the excellent Locations “E: from Spain, and the very good value – but also tasty – Nero D’Avola from Sicily. I have also added a very good Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina, Chakana. This is a very well respected vineyard, and this wine offers body and structure, good fruit and balance, and should work well with our menu. Malbec the grape hails from Southwestern France, where it is often a blending grape, but in Argentina it really comes into its own. I love this wine, and we have other very good examples of Malbec on our list, including wines from Catena and my favorite from Colome. I urge you to give them a try, they are all very good. I have also added to our list two wines from
Mollydooker from Australia. Maitre D’ is a Cabernet and Two Left Feet is a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet and Merlot, and both offer abundant fruit typical of Mollydooker wines. The vineyard suggest that one does “the Mollydooker shake” to fully appreciate the wine, but shaken or not these are very good wines. Just a thought.
