Remember just last week when I was reflecting on what a nice day it was? Oh what a difference a week makes. Not that it is all that bad out there – I mean, we all know it could be a lot worse. But consistent weather and temps have never been a hallmark around here. For our part, however, we try to be consistent, and I figure that many of you might have a few kitchen type chores coming up this week. So I am hoping that I can convince you to join us this weekend, hopefully for some consistent food, wine and service, or just to relax, let us cook for you, and make your holiday plans. Whatever, we will be featuring Lemon Sole, Swordfish and Certified Angus Beef Strip Steaks for your enjoyment, to go with all your favorite Fratello favorites. We’d love to see ya’!

In also have some wine news for you. I will be adding to our feature board a new Malbec from Argentine, the 1907 from Mendoza Vineyards. As you know Malbec is a medium to full bodied grape originally from the southwest of France which has come into its own with the hear of Argentina. This particular Malbec is more medium bodied, very well balanced, and will work well with our menu. I have also added two new wines to our wine list. Dave Phinney has come out with a new Locations wine, this time from California, called, what else, CA. This wine is a blend of Tempranillo, Barbera, Syrah, Petit Sirah and Grenache, offering good fruit and structure. Dave is a master of blending grapes, witness his wines such as the Locations “E”, also on our feature board, and most notably Prisoner. I have also added a new Spanish wine to our list from Numanthia-Termes, arguably the finest producer in Toro. This Tinto de Toro is an entry wine for Numanthia, and the grape is Tempranillo, perhaps the
most famous red grape from Spain (along with Garnacha). This is a medium to full body, very well made, and will work well with our menu. As I have told you before, wines from Spain are typically a very good value, and I urge you to try them, we have quite a few on our list.

Let me also remind you again to consider joining us for our New Year’s Eve Celebration, with seatings at 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30. We serve our regular menu, and a good time is had by all. Call – do not email – for a reservation.
