I hope you enjoyed the pleasant temps while they lasted. There is a rumor that we might get a bit on the nippy side pretty soon, maybe even later today. Hey, it was great while it lasted. But not to worry, whatever the temps, be it rain, sleet, hail or snow, we at Fratello’s plan to be here this weekend for your dining pleasure. Our specials include “Wagyu” Beef Filet, aka American Kobe Beef, Arctic Char (as you know, similar to salmon) and Fluke Fish (no fluke, that is the name of the fish, honest). I know for some of you there is a game on this Saturday that might grab your interest, but heck, you have to eat, and there is plenty of time to dine before the kickoff. Or you could dine and watch it with us. Whatever, we’d love to see ya”!
I have added several new wines to our wine program, although they might not make it to our list by this weekend. The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico by Zeni is a more feminine and friendly style of Amarone with excellent fruit and balance, and is very good with food. It is $54/bottle, which is a very good price for a Amarone. Normally it would be in the $80+ range. The Brunello di Montalcino by Castello Romitorio is another good value, also with good fruit and texture, and has been rated 93 by Wine Spectator. Normally in the $94/bottle range, it is available for $84. And I have added a new Cannonau di Sardegna to our program. A very good value at $28/bottle, Cannonau is 100% grenache, very good fruit in a medium bodied wine that works very well with our menu. Cannonau is reputed to offer the most anti-oxidents of any red wine anywhere on the planet, and people on Sardinia typically live into their 90’s and even 100’s. Their Mediterranean diet deserves some credit (hello
Fratello’s food), but their wine consumption perhaps does as well. Just a thought. Whatever, this is a very good wine.
We are filling up rapidly for New Year’s Eve this year, with the most room available for the 5:30 seating at this point. We hope you consider joining us and toasting in the New Year with us (and some bubbly as well). Call – not email – for reservations.
I presume many of you are preparing for the big day several weeks from now, and we hope in all the hustle and bustle of this time of year we get a chance to see you. Thanks for all your support, and we hope the blessings and good wishes of this time of year are with you all. Thanks as always, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
P.S. GO BUCKS!
