Weekend Specials


Well, at least it is not snowing. Sure could be a bit warmer though, and it would be nice if the sun would make an appearance. But the temps notwithstanding, we have some nice specials for you to enjoy and celebrate the big day this weekend. We will be featuring Wild Ivory King Salmon from Alaska, Blue Marlin from Hawaii, and grass fed Kobe Beef Filet Mignon. It also looks like some special apps and sides might be in the works as well. We hope you have a chance to join us.

There are a few changes afoot with our wine program. I have added an excellent Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre red blend from Australia to our wine board. This wine is from Yangarra, a vintner from McLaren Vale, and the wine offers both fruit and body and works very well with our menu. The red from Portugal, Quatro Castas, is nearly gone but another excellent red blend also from Portugal is in the wings waiting its turn. As I mentioned last week I have become a fan of reds from Portugal, and I plan to add another wine to our wine list. This wine is from Esporao, a relatively new winemaker but whose wines I have great respect for. This Red Reserve is a blend of a number of grapes indigenous to Portugal, along with some Cabernet Sauvignon, and it was among the stars at a recent wine tasting I attended. It joins the red from Cartuxa, which has many of the same grapes as the Red Reserve except for the Cabernet. And the red from Poeira from Douro, also on the list, is among the best
wines I have tasted recently. Portugal has much to offer wine wise besides Port, and their wines are typically a very good value. I urge you to give them a try.

As you very well know this is somewhat of a special weekend coming up, the weekend we honor all the Mothers out there. My brother and I were blessed with a wonderful Mother, and if I had a choice I could not have picked a better Mother, as I am sure many of you feel as well. Plus I am thankful to be married to another wonderful Mother. We are grateful to all the Mothers, and the Fathers, and the Sons and Daughters, whose support and friendship has sustained us all these many years. My thanks to you all, and we hope to see you soon.
