Have you been outside recently, like today? Simply, utterly, undeniably beautiful, another day to bottle up and save for you know what is coming (hopefully, a long, long time coming!). Simply a perfect day to take your loved one, your significant other, your kids, your friends, heck, yourself, out for some good food & wine. And I have a place in mind, believe it or not (surprise!). How about joining us at Fratello’s this weekend, when we will be featuring Halibut, Skate Wing Fish, and Certified Angus Beef Texas Sirloin. Come celebrate our good fortune, weather wise and so many other ways, and satisfy your taste buds at the same time. We’d love to see ya’!
As for wine, I urge you to try the excellent Malbec blend from Cuvelier, Grand Vin, as well as the two recent wines from Michael Pozzan from Napa that have joined our wine program. The Red blend is a Syrah, Petit Sirah and Zinfandel blend that is delicious by itself or with our menu, and the Sailor’s Grave is a blend of Cabernet and Malbec and is on par with many Napa cabs that are many times its price. I am also fond of the Pinot Noir from Talbott, Kali Hart, which comes from Monterey. This wine is very fruit forward, typical of many California Pinots, and will be limited due to the sale of Talbott to one of the giant wine producers in California, which makes their status somewhat unclear. This is a tasty Pinot.
As I said last week, we are hosting an Italian wine dinner on Sunday, October 11th, starting at 6:00. We are working with Claudio from the Speciality Wine Company, and we expect to have a guest from Italy to discuss the wines. All of the wines are from the Piedmont region of Italy, and we plan to taste Arneis, a white wine, and the following red varietals, Nebbiolo d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba, Barbaresco, and a Barolo from the Canubi region. There will also be a dessert wine, as is our custom at our wine dinners. There will be a food course for each wine, and we are currently working on the menu. The cost is $80/person, excluding taxes and gratuity. These wine dinners are always fun and informative, especially with Claudio, and I urge you to consider joining us. Call – do not email – for a reservation at 440-933-3380. The dinners typically end around 8:30 or so, not too late, and we hope you can make it.
I hope you are enjoying the wonderful day Mother Nature has given us, and more importantly we hope you are well. Thanks for all your support, it is very humbling. Thank you, and we hope to see you soon.
