Isn’t it typical? All the students head back to the classroom and we get perhaps the hottest temps of the summer. Well, humid anyways, but you get the picture. However we try to keep it comfortable within the walls of Fratello’s, so I’m hoping I can entice you to join us this weekend for some fine food & wine. Our specials will be Wild Alaskan King Salmon, a little bit of Lemon Sole, and Bison Strip Steaks. I know it might be a wee bit busy for you this weekend, Labor Day and all, but we’d love to see ya’!
This time of year with the summer winding down and the fall just around the corner, many of the wine distributors host tastings to showcase their portfolios, and because we are committed to providing you with the finest wines to enjoy I have been on it to find delicious wines for you. Last week I shared my impressions of the Grand Vin from Cuvelier from Argentina, which is a Malbec heavy Bordeaux varietal wine that is among the best wines I have tasted all summer. This week I am expecting delivery of two wines from Michael Pozzan from Napa that I am also fond of. Their Gold Series Red Blend is a blend of Syrah, Petite Sirah and Zinfandel from Oakville, and offers fruit, body and structure. The fruit is very pronounced but not overdone. I should also receive a few bottles of a Cabernet blend called Sailor’s Grace, which is a serious California Cab yet at a lesser price point than most serious Napa Cabernets. I was impressed and I urge you to try it. Lastly, I have to once
again suggest that you try one of Rose wines from France that we offer on our list. These wines are inexpensive and for me are among the best wines to enjoy with this warm weather. Just a thought.
We hope you are well and enjoy a safe and happy Labor Day. I thank you for your support, and hope to see you soon.
