Whew! It looked for awhile the past few days that we were jumping right into the fall, non? Thank goodness August has returned today, and it is shaping up for some decent temps coming our way. And it might, just might I say, be perfect to head out for some good food & wine. Like, for instance, at Fratello’s this weekend, when we will be featuring Yellow Edge Grouper from the Gulf, King Crab Legs from Alaska, and Pilot Rack of Lamb from New Zealand. Of course, all your Fratello friends will be here as well – you know, Deb & Scott & Tammi & Sean & Kate & Sara & all the Bills & Ed & Tim & Kyle & Craig & Ryan & Veal Salt & Egg Parm & Shrimp Frat & Chicken Rollo & all the Frats & Calamari & Pasta & Clams & Mussels &…….you get the idea. We’d love to see ya’!
As for wine, I have added a wine from Argentina which I tasted recently that in terms of quality and value is among the finest wines I have tasted all summer. The Grand Vin from Cuvelier Los Andes is a blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot, and is considered the flagship wine of this vineyard. The Cuvelier Family owns the prestigious Chateau Leoville-Poyferre vineyard in Bordeaux, France, and Grand Vin delivers excellent structure, balance, and elegance. Just an amazing wine. Cuvelier also makes the excellent Grand Malbec which is also on our list, which is among the finest Malbecs I have ever tasted. I have also added the 2010 vintage of Brunello di Montalcino from Castello Romitorio, which joins the 2006 vintage on our list. The 2006 was rated 91 points by the Wine Advocate, which awarded the 2010 vintage a 95 point rating. This wine is very allocated, and I understand that there were only 48 bottles available in the entire state of Ohio. Very
limited, not inexpensive, but very good. Lastly, I have also brought back the Rosso di Montalcino from Domus Vitae to our feature board, which has been very well received. This Sangiovese wine from Italy hails from the same area as the much heralded Brunello but at a lesser price point. As I have said before, we have plenty of juice for you to enjoy. Come have a sip with us!
The welcome return of August temps notwithstanding, the students returning to the classroom, the football stadiums heating up, and the calendar all tell us that the summer is winding down, unfortunately. But there is still plenty of time to get out and enjoy yourselves, perhaps with some good food & wine. We hope you are well, and that you will get out and enjoy yourselves as I suggest, perhaps even with us. We”d love to see you. Thanks for all your support, it is very much appreciated.
P.S. When I mentioned your “Fratello friends”, of course I also meant the many DMO’s, bussers & hosts who also contribute to your dining enjoyment. They all do a fine job, and we would not be here without them.
