It is starting to feel like fall, non? You have to admit that we have been somewhat lucky recently, at least weather wise, and it sure seems like a nice day we’re having today. Tell you what, why not keep the good vibes going and consider joining us for dinner this weekend. Our specials will be Beef Funghetto, Halibut from the Pacific and Trigger Fish from off the coast of North Carolina. A few changes are afoot on our wine board, As I mentioned last week, the Cosmic Karma from Treasure Hunter, which is a Grenache from Napa, has returned and continues to get good ratings. Grenache is an excellent food wine, be it from Spain, France, Italy, Australia or California, and it works very well with our menu. I have also added a Cabernet from the Bolgheri region of Tuscany, Italy. Bolgheri is in the western side of Tuscany, bordering the Mediterranean sea, and it is known for their Cabernet wines. Listra is a wine that used to be on our wine list, and I have added this medium bodied wine to our feature board. The wine drinks like an old world Cabernet, and is good on its own or with a meal. I plan on adding its big brother, Valpolo, to our wine list. This wine is a blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Petit Verdot, and is more full bodied than Listra and is also very good with our menu. Lastly, in the wings following Cosmic Karma is another wine from Treasure Hunter that I think is the best wine in their entire portfolio that I have tried. It is a Cabernet from Washington and drinks way beyond its price point. Stay tuned as you do not want to miss this wine.
As I said earlier it seems pretty nice outside now, but believe it or not the calendar says November. I have a bit of an issue with jumping too early on the Holidays – e.g. Christmas displays in the middle of October is way too early – but I am also aware of and see the benefits of planning ahead. Thus I have started to take reservations for our New Year’s Eve celebrations. We take reservations for all size parties, unlike our normal procedures, with seatings at 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30, and we serve our normal, weekend menu. Call – do not email – for a reservation. We have a good time and have always sold out in advance, so consider joining us.
